During this time period men and women were actually treated differently. Men were the ones who had to go out and make the money for their families.Women had to stay in the house and cook, clean, and even take care of their child(ren). If they didnt stay in the house and cook and clean they would become a nurse.

The wives had to do things such as cook, clean, wash clothes. Well the men were the people who had real jobs. Women were nothing but baby makers on if married because if you were having a baby with out being married you were looked at ina bad way.

During the play, men were expected to work and take care of their familes. Women were expected to the opposite. They were not expected to work. They were only expected to be housewives, and if they were worked, they were nurses.
